Concern Worldwide, in preparation for the hosting of the G8 in Ireland this past June, prepared this special report urging leaders to act on food security and nutrition now. 2013 has been tagged globally as a critical year for nutrition, where political leadership needs to be strengthened, and national and international accountability around commitments need to be built for improved food security and nutrition worldwide. Concern - as well as Ireland, where it originates - is well known for its strong and ongoing commitment to the fight against hunger, and proposes in this booklet three proven approaches they are taking to tackle the complex and underlying causes of undernutrition: (1) invest in smallholder farmers and support alternative rural livelihoods; (2) build community resilience to undernutrition; and (3) scale up nutrition interventions and strengthen health systems.
