This paper is among the four newly launched papers making up the Lancet Nutrition Series 2013. Paper 3 presents the evidence of nutritional effect of nutrition-sensitive programs in four sectors: agriculture, social safety nets, early child development, and schooling. This paper highlights the importance of interventions in these four sectors to increase the impact and scale-up of nutrition-specific interventions and promote a stimulating environment in which children can grow and thrive.
