A new Minimum Dietary Diversity - Women (MDD-W) indicator has been endorsed following a consensus meeting convened by FAO and the Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III (FANTA) Project in July. The Women's Dietary Diversity Project, underway since 2005, was a response to requests for a standardized indicator able to assess micronutrient quality of women's diet. Validation work shows that desirable micronutrient-dense food groups are likely to be consumed by women reporting consumption of 5 or more food groups out of 10.
