A Life Free from Hunger: Tackling Child Malnutrition
This 2012 report from Save the Children looks to re-focus attention away from econmic crises and macroeconomic solutions, to the hunger and malnutrition problems are preventing children from reaching their potential. The authors review solutions that are available and able to be implemented quickly, including supplementation, iodization, behavior change, and other interventions. Other issues are larger and include addressing the global food system for more nutritious outputs, and creating political support around a complex issue. They offer six steps: make malnutrition visible, invest in interventions, train health workers, protect families from poverty, use agriculture to support nutrition, and bring leaders together.
