The Hunger and Nutrition Commitment Index
The Hunger and Nutrition Commitment Index (HANCI) was developed by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) with support from AusAID and IrishAID to rank governments on their political commitment to tackling hunger and undernutrition. The index, by measuring commitment to hunger and nutrition separately, clearly distinguishes the two, highlighting the need for different and specific policies for each of these issues. The index is intended to provide greater transparency and public accountability by clearly measuring what actions governments take - or issues they fail to address - to combat hunger and malnutrition in their countries.
Please visit the HANCI website for more information about the index, including direct access to data and inforgraphics.
In June 2013, a new addition to the HANCI has been released, which ranks donor's commitment to nutrition. Methodology and results of this exercise are also available below.
