Call to Action: Nutrition in the Post-2015 Agenda
One of the main outcomes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012, was the agreement to develop a set of sustainable development goals (SDGs) to begin after the Millennium Development Goals concluded in 2015. A 30-member Open Working Group of the General Assembly (OWG) was mandated to prepare a proposal, co-chaired by the Permanent Missions of Kenya and Hungary to the UN. The first phase of the work of OWG involved a series of 8 sessions, each focusing on a specific theme. These concluded in February 2013 and were followed by the Post 2015 working groups of the SUN Civil Society Network and of the Road to Rio Nutrition Advocacy Group working to develop consensus documents of key messages (call to action) and proposed goals/targets and indicators (technical brief).
