This article looks at the relationship between agricultural performance or income and indices of malnutrition among adults and children in India. This analysis finds that there is a strong and significant negative relationship between the two, suggesting that improvements in agricultural productivity can be a powerful tool to reduce undernutrition across Indian states. Other factors, such as access to sanitation and healthcare, women's literacy,  and childcare practices, were also found to be strong factors affecting malnutrition.
