State of Food and Agriculture 2015
FAO’s annual State of Food and Agriculture (SOFA) for 2015 focuses on linkages with social protection. Key messages include the importance of targeting and transfers in reducing both poverty and food insecurity, focusing on women to improve food security and nutrition outcomes, and adopting a multisectoral approach to sustainably reduce poverty. A 12-page executive summary highlights “Options for combining agricultural policies with social protection,” and includes a conceptual diagram outlining linkages between household consumption, production activities, and local economies. The report itself looks at the nexus of agriculture, social protection, and nutrition in chapter 5, noting home food production, animal husbandry, and nutrition education as areas of overlap.
