SAFANSI Annual Report 2016
The South Asia Food and Nutrition Security Initiative (SAFANSI) Annual Report describes the status of projects that address nutrition and food security in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. For example, one project in India is working towards an evidence-based nutrition and health policymaking tool, and another has created a "Social Observatory" that diagnoses the impact of market, government, and behavioral failures on nutrition. In Nepal, a grant targeting a women's cooperative is focused on food production, storage, and business enterprises, while a larger regional grant is funding cost analysis for scale-up of nutrition interventions. SAFANSI is funded by UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID) and the European Commission, and will continue to focus on building capacity and stimulating behavior change to increase food and nutrition security in the South Asia region through 2018.
