Promoting Nutrition Security in Haiti: An Assessment of the Pre- and Post-Earthquake Conditions and Recommendations for the Way Forward
This paper aims to analyze the nutrition context in Haiti during pre- and post-earthquake periods, and to identify strategies and innovative tools that can prevent malnutrition and promote nutrition security. Most of the available data describes conditions in Haiti before the earthquake, however, data from a post-earthquake nutritional survey conducted in earthquake-affected areas is included wherever possible. The assessment focuses in particular on the 1000 days "window of opportunity", and provides an explanation of the underlying determinants of country's nutrition security alongside practical recommendations for improvement.
