Nutrition-sensitive Agriculture and Food Systems in Practice: Options for Intervention
This FAO report focuses on interventions that can enhance nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food systems. It is organized according to four key functions of the food system—production, handling/storage, trade, and consumer demand—and additionally categorized by cross-cutting issues such as nutrition-sensitive value chains, women’s empowerment, food loss and waste, and food quality, safety and hygiene. For each intervention, the authors provide information on the conceptual linkages to nutrition, opportunities to make it more nutrition-sensitive, the context and enabling environments that support it, and references to learn more.
