Following the request of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) in 2014, the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) conducted a process to systematically identify a wide range of issues of importance for food security and nutrition, as well as their interrelations. Within the diversity of issues, the HLPE has highlighted the following five critical and emerging issues of particular importance: nutrition, livestock systems, inequalities, the role of financial markets, and pathways to sustainable food systems.
