The Next Pandemic? Non-communicable Diseases in Developing Countries
This report, edited by The Economist Intelligence Unit, examines the growing burden of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in low- and lower-middle-income countries. The authors look at how poorer diets and more sedentary occupations drive this change, and possible solutions for healthcare systems to deliver appropriate NCD care for patients. Findings are based on data analysis, desk research, and five in-depth interviews with senior healthcare experts. The report is commissioned by the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations on behalf of Access Accelerated (an initiative to address NCD burden).
