The Marketplace for Nutritious Food - Assessment of a market-based food environment intervention
The Marketplace for Nutritious Foods is an innovation accelerator managed by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) that supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to produce nutritious foods across East and Southern Africa. After four years of operation in Kenya, Rwanda, and Mozambique, insights are emerging that providing technical and financial assistance to SMEs has the potential shape market food environments and improve the availability, affordability, desirability, and convenience of nutritious foods.
In this seminar, GAIN presented the results of an assessment of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods program and highlighted the challenges faced in measuring the impact of SMEs on nutrition outcomes.
Co-hosted by the SecureNutrition platform and the Food Quality and Value Chains and Agribusiness Global Solution Groups of the World Bank Group's Agriculture Global Practice.
