Integrating social protection and nutrition interventions can help support the development of human capital and well-being. However, synergies across these sectors do not come automatically.

On January 26, 2017, SecureNutrition and the World Bank Group hosted well-known author and IFPRI Senior Researcher Dr. Harold Alderman to outline the logic for prioritizing nutrition-sensitive programs in the current development landscape. He discussed how safety nets—which support some 1.9 billion people worldwide—can help achieve global nutrition and poverty targets.

The presentation was attended by over 130 individuals. Resources are listed below, and more will be added through the week of January 30. We would like to thank World Bank Group Vice President Keith Hansen for chairing the session and the Russian Federation Executive Director Andrei Lushin for his opening comments. Discussants were Michal Rutkowski (Sr. Director of Social Protection, Labor, and Jobs) and Soji Adeyi (Director of Health, Nutrition, and Population). Program presenters were Francesca Lamanna (Sr. Economist), and Maddalena Honorati (Sr. Economist).
