The Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity was established in 2014 to review, build upon and address gaps in existing mandates and strategies that target childhood obesity. In 2016 the Commission presented this report to the WHO Director-General, culminating a two-year process to address the alarming levels of childhood obesity and overweight globally. Having consulted with over 100 WHO Member States and reviewed nearly 180 online comments, the Commission proposes a range of recommendations including the promotion of healthy food consumption, enhanced physical activity, non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention, healthy school environments, and more.
