Ag2Nut Call: Key Points from the FAO/WHO Symposium on Sustainable Food Systems for Healthy Diets and Improved Nutrition
On February 14, Ag2Nut Community of practice members discussed the 2017 WHO/FAO International Symposium, which was allowed students from eight universities to learn from and contribute to policy discussions. Anna Lartey, Director of Nutrition and Food Systems (ESN), FAO, and Denise Costa Coitinho Delmuè, WHO/FAO International Symposium coordinator, provided recaps and takeaways. The Symposium stressed the need for transformation of food systems, calling for stronger commitment to enhance supply and demand side policies that lead to healthy diets. Other key themes included accountability, resilience, and equity within food systems.
